Who We are

Connie Nelson

Connie created Helping Hands in 2005 with passion for her client and a desire to help. She graduated from Loyola College as a PSW in 2008 and has been working to assist clients ever since.
Christina Cowey

Christina Cowey

Christina decided to join her twin sister at Helping Hands in 2012 and is a key contributor to it's ongoing success.

What We Do

We provide in home private care providing options for people that want to maintain their dignity of staying at home to live as independently as they can for as long as they can. We treat our clients like our own family and are the eyes and ears to our clients family and loved ones, providing necessary updates on their ongoing condition. We keep a watchful presence to foresee potential changes that can lead to problems and report back to family who are in need of someone that can temporarily step in when needed.

This service provides dignity and support with encouragement and sincere motives for the family so all those involved can feel a sense of reassurance knowing we are here to Lend A Helping Hand when needed.

Services We Provide

Companionship

Spending time with our client this can include respite care and shopping, social interaction and engaging in activities as well as providing emotional support

Bathing / Personal Care

Personal care is assisting with hygiene including bathing, grooming and toileting, dressing and undressing

Light Cleaning and Organizing

Performing light housekeeping like laundry, making and changing bed sheets and tidying up

Grocery Shopping

Attend grocery store either with or without client to ensure they have the supplies they need to meet their nutritional needs set out in their plan

Escorting to Appointment

We can prepare our client with morning routine then take them to their appointment and staying with them to ensure notes are taken to update the family on the results

Palliative Care

We monitor health and wellbeing and report any changes to the healthcare teams to ensure comfort, dignity and safety in homes or facilities

Respite Care

Up to live in companionship performing all necessary duties to ensure proper recovery physically and mentally, including reporting to healthcare team about recovery

Doctor Appointment

Assist in going to the appointment in order to ensure proper record of what is said to report to healthcare team and or family

Meal Preparation

Planning and preparing nutritious meals and assisting in eating them

Mobility Assistance

Helping clients walk or transfer (e.g. to a wheelchair) and aids in order to reduce fall risk

Health Monitoring

Observing and reporting changes in physical or mental condition to nurses or supervisors

Medication Support

Providing reminders and assisting with taking prescribed medications within guidelines

New Service Now Available

We have seen the lack of compassionate affordable door to door transportation within the industry.  So we have decided to increase our services to include accessible transportation through our sister company Lend A Helping Hand Transportation.
